Week Notes Vol 117
August 01, 2021
I was hanging out for the second time in person with my knitting group and someone asked me how my midlife crisis was coming along and I realized I haven’t hit it yet or more realistically it will arrive when my body is physically not able to do the things I enjoy. I also consider the things that scare me enjoyable. On Friday I went on a hike with my co-workers (yay for four day work weeks during the summer!) and one of them pointed out that I keep on doing the things that scare me on some level. While true I also find fun and adventure in them which outweighs my discomfort.
This quote by Brené Brown has stayed with me for a week now and while it’s not about the literal wilderness it rings true nevertheless:
The wilderness is where all the creatives and prophets and system-buckers and risk-takers have always lived, and it is stunningly vibrant. The walk out there is hard, but the authenticity out there is life.
