Week Notes Vol 130
October 31, 2021
As we are nearing the end of the year (where did it go?) planning for 2022 is on my mind. At the same time time I’m making my way through a learning series at work for managers and it is reminding me how where we come from is likely impact how we function.
I was raised to belive that if you work, do the best you can then your efforts are noticed and you are rewarded. In so many ways growing up in a Soviet republic is similar to growing up Asian in the US. It took me years to learn to accept credit for the work I’ve done, even longer to learn that part of getting ahead is being your own PR person, to really own your accomplishments. As a manager highlighting your team’s and team members’ achievements and victories is something you should be doing all the time. People don’t get promoted for getting their work done, they get promoted for getting their visible work done.
