Working at REI has its own quirks. One of the most obvious ones is that business causal at REI literally means wearing everything we sell in our stores and online every day. It is super rare to see someone wearing a collared shirt, I don’t think I have ever seen a suit. In most cases no matter the department it’s a fleece in the winter and tshirts in the summer.
Another wonderful and odd tradition is an annual Twinkie roast. Even though most of us in the HQ (non-store) are remote we gathered in two office buildings we still have for outdoor festivities featuring hot cider, cocoa and roasted Twinkies. Turns out roasted Twinkies are quite delicious!
