Week Notes Vol 6

June 13, 2019

Burnout has been on my mind a lot lately. I’ve been essentially working two jobs for months now - one being what my job title is and the other picking up slack for the missing head count. It definitely has reached the point where it is no longer sustainable.

… both the physical symptoms of burnout, such as gastrointestinal disorders, and the psychological symptoms, such as cynicism, are likely to build up gradually over time, before a person, or their coworkers, family and friends, begin to realise that they have become burned out

I found this quote in this piece and these words are spot on. Thankfully it is only two weeks until vacation time! Overwhelming workload, conflicting objectives, unclear expectations, inadequate resources, and lack of managerial support are usually what drags me down and this time is no exeption.
