Wondering Wanderer

Week Notes Vol 7

June 20, 2019

Another year older and realizing nothing really matters more than surrounding yourself with people who love you and people you love (often the same thing). I must admit I cried a little when my bestie showed up for my birthday dinner after a 7 hour car ride. This is what true friendship looks like! And for the first time ever in my life being in a position where my partner plans my birthday celebration with my best friends - that is truly amazing.

  • Started reading It’s Complicated: The Social Lives of Networked Teens by Danah Boyd. Youth culture now is so different from the one I grew up in and having kids in my life who are becoming young adults (how did this happen so fast?!) I feel the need to be more in touch with their point of view. Sure, I have IG/Twitter/Fb but how I use it is radically different from their daily use.

  • Finally climbed South Sister with fellow Mazama Mountain Dogs. Blog post to follow what is it like to climb with an all female team, how to overcome physical and mental challenges, high altitude sickness and supporting each other on a horribly hot day.

Lessons learned

  • I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what I like to do, how I like to accomplish things and what motivates me. Then there’s also the “Work With Me” movement that has been going around. I expect this to take a little longer to dissect until I am ready to write down what it is for me now.
