Week Notes Vol 74
September 30, 2020
Turns out getting a few days without internet, Slack and news is exactly what I needed. We hit the road on Sunday with a goal of making it to eastern Oregon with no clear plans where to stay. My main goal was to stay away from people and civilization as much as possible. Outdoors is still the best place to offload all the work stress.
It’s amazing how quickly one can switch to the schedule dictated by daylight. We’d go to bed at 8 since it was dark and listen to an audio book for an hour. Then around 6 am I’d crawl out of my sleeping bag, make coffee and return to the sleeping bag for morning coffee and another hour of Deep River. When it was light enough we’d make breakfast and decide where to go for the day and where to sleep the next night. We’d hit a local town for internet - yes, we are the weirdos who drive to town, sit in the car while doing research and leave.
We’ll definitely return to the Wallowas with plans to packpack over 4-5 days since there are only limited options for day hikes.
