As I hit “delete” yet on another recruitment email I wonder if recruiters are aware why their success rate drops in late January / early February? If they paid more attention to context they’d realize that in a lot of companies it is time for performance reviews.
I got mine done a few hours before the deadline but I learned a few cruicial lessons along the way:
- Don’t plan a major release close to review due date or block out dedicated time to focus.
- Ask team members to pre-plan their reviews in late December instead of after Christmas break.
- Remind people to keep track of their accomplishments throughout the year. It is especially useful for women who end to downplay their achievements.
